   The most important port city in Lycia,Patara was the judicial center for the Roman governor at the time. It is known that St.Nicholas(Santa Claus) was born and raised in Patara and according to some sources,the city was the Apolla oracle center in the wintertime.(You must swim in the sea in Patara if you have time left!)
