Ataturk Monument

Located in Republic Square, the monument was erected in 1932 by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica. On the pedestal is the relief inscription, "Ordular. Ilk bedefimiz Akdenizl" (Troops. Our first target is the Mediterranean!). There are also reliefs depicting scenes from the War of Independence.
